Sports world to converge on Geneva for ISC 2014

Focusing on the business of sport, the International Sports Convention 2014 (ISC 2014) is to take place between December 10-11 in Geneva, Switzerland.

FIFA presidential candidate Jerome Champagne will make a key address at the event, and will be joined by representatives of 70 football associations around the world.

According to the organisers, the emergence of basketball as a global sport has warranted the inclusion of the first ever International Basketball Conference, which will feature involvement from FIBA and Euroleague representatives.

In total, 18 sports conferences will take place over the two days, under one roof at the PALEXPO exhibition centre. Approximately 150 speakers, 80 exhibitors and 2,000 delegates are expected to attend.

The four event partners for ISC 2014 have also been confirmed, with UNICEF joining ASPIRE, MAPEI and Qatar Financial Centre.

UNICEF is committed to pioneering the use of sport as a tool for addressing development issues, and its partnership is a big boost for the event.

Nigel Fletcher, chief executive of the International Sports Convention, said of the partnership with UNICEF: “The ISC focusses on the business of sport, and many are there to grow their businesses, which is what we set out to facilitate but we as organisers wanted to have a balance and re-emphasise the power of sport in today’s world.”
